Who is the Denturist? The Denturist of Prosthodontic Dentistry is a dental health care provider,
specializing in complete dentures, partial dentures, implant supported dentures, over dentures and
immediate dentures. Denturists also provide repairs and relines of the above mentioned appliances.
They take impressions, fabricate and fit their own patient-removable appliances directly to their
patients. They perform health and oral evaluations and refer any abnormalities to the appropriate
health care specialists. Academic knowledge, technical experience and artistic capability are
essential in this profession. Academically the oral pathology, histology, head and neck anatomy,
microbiology, asepsis, nutrition, clinical jurisprudence, etc. are the subjects they are examined and
tested for. Certain level of expertise in the laboratory technology in partial denture
design/construction and also in the complete denture creation is requirements as well.
What is Denturism? It is a specialty of dentistry involving both the clinical and technical
services. It is the practice of making, altering, repairing, relining, complete and partial dentures
directly to the patients. Denturism is practiced in all provinces of Canada, in
Australia, eight
countries of Europe, and is also legalized and accepted in seven states of the United States.
Objectives of Prosthodontic Treatment (1) to restore masticating function, (2) to restore or
improve the appearance, facial esthetics of the individual, (3) to improve speech, (4) to carry out
these tasks in such a manner that does not cause the patient harm or discomfort.

Both the facial expression and masticatory muscles, also the two TMJ-s are left unsupported with
the loss of the natural teeth and their centric relation. The vertical dimension of the face and jaws
which was supported will collapse, the lips and cheeks will develop wrinkles, become unattractive
and the two TMJ-s will hurt if not supported with the properly made dentures or partials.
Denturism comprises technically inclined tasks that are handled differently in Dentists offices.
- Complete Denture is a dental prosthesis, artificial substitute to replace all 14 missing natural
teeth in an arch (upper or lower) and the associated oral structures. A complete denture sits on
soft mucous tissue and is supported by the underlying bone structure.
- Removable Partial Denture is a patient removable prosthesis that replaces one or more, but
less than all the natural teeth of the same arch and the associated oral structures. A partial
denture has support from the underlying bone structure covered with soft mucous tissue, and
from the remaining natural teeth through clasps or attachments. Partials are
not bridges as
they are often called! They are not cemented permanently onto prepped teeth!
- Implant Supported Denture needed when substantial bone loss occurs, then denture is not
retainable anymore by the patient's anatomical bone structure. Oral surgeons will insert
titanium implant-studs into the patient's bone structure, which will hold the denture in place.
The denture will be retained on the implant-studs either with screws or snaps, creating a firm,
non-mobile conditions for the denture.
- Rebase is a process of refitting a denture by replacing the old damaged or distorted base with
new denture material, without changing the occlusial relation of the teeth.
- Reline is a resurfacing of the fitting side of the denture/partial with a new layer of
base material, after new impression was taken with the appliance. It will fit more accurately,
without altering the occlusal relation of the teeth. Relines restore retention, stability and
function, lost by reabsorption of the bone structure and changes of the gum surface.
- Heat Cure Technique, - is a long process - used in our office to do relines and rebases,
within
a 24 hour time frame. We do not use the Fast Cure or Cold Cure Reline Technique that
creates porosity retentive for stains and bacteria, causing the typical bad denture breath.
- Repairs - We do only 50 PSI high-pressure repairs to prevent improper curing, which could
lead to unhealthy and unpleasant burning sensation to the gum. We always add heavy-duty
chromium wire reinforcement in all fracture repairs to prevent reoccurrence.
Bride, Crown or Cap are fixed/cemented restorations. Dentists prep natural remaining teeth then
cement onto the prepped teeth the restoration permanently. Denturists specialize only in Complete
and Partial Dentures. Denturists personally don't do Crown and Bridge services.
In our office we aim for superior function and esthetics, with great systems, such as:
- Swiss Style Dentures aiming superior
aesthics and function, with the most life-like,
durable, wear resistant IPN teeth. To avoid allergic reactions any any other systemic side
effects we use only Non-Cadmium colored acrylic (the pink base of the denture). our
dentures are anatomically correct, analyzed and balanced on the scientifically superb
Accu-Liner Instrument to preserve TMJ health and the health of the denture supporting tissues.
- European Style Partial Denture is another premium product from our office. It is made
with gold soldered, very strong chromium wire frame, without right, fragile chromium
casted frame and casted clasps. This partial creates no electrolyzes, no galvanic effects in
the mouth. These partials are flexible and very light in weight, made with flexible clasps,
which last long, ensuring patient comfort, extending the life and health of remaining natural
teeth and supporting tissues. We use only premium quality IPN teeth and Cadmium free
base acrylic in our partials.
- Accu-Liner Analyzer System is a scientific methodology to restore lost function of the
mouth. We create all our appliances with this state-of-the-art instrument. This
system
balances out the occlusal forces at the left and right sides in both upper and lower arches. It
helps to create correct dentures and partials, which will work in harmony with the nerves,
muscles and bone structures of the head, neck and face. There is no guesswork. The
Accu-Liner Analyzer System's result is perfection, created with precision. We are proud to have
maximum patient satisfaction.
